Post Office

The Stourpaine Parish Council and the Village Hall Committee are pleased to announce that they have secured the services of the Child Okeford Outreach Post Office for the village.

The Outreach Post Office will be at the Stourpaine Village Hall on Tuesday mornings from 09.30 to 12.30. Usual Post Office services will be provided, with the exception of top ups for electricity and gas pre-payments.

The Tuesday Post Office sessions will correspond with the weekly Community Warm Hub at the Village Hall, where free hot drinks and free wifi are available.

Everyone is welcome to come and use the Hub, to meet up with friends old or new, or just to spend time in a warm place in good company.

Village Hall has Roots

Three trees were paid for from the collection taken at Jocelyn Russell‘s 100th birthday party and replace the copper beech Jocelyn had planted some years ago that was removed to make way for the new Hall.

This tree is a Sweet Gum (Liquidamber styraciflua Worplesdon). The tree planted between the two buildings is a Flowering Pear (Pyrus Calleryana Chanticleer) and a third – an Oak has been planted beyond the football pitch.

Really helpful advice was received from the North Dorset Tree Officer Sandie Saunders, our resident arboricultural expert Peter Palmer supervised and Mark Farwell generously provided a digger to make the holes and carry the heavier trees.

HRH The Duchess of Cornwall officially opened the new Village Hall on 22nd November 2015, aided by the  grandchildren.

Many onlookers came to support the official opening of the Village Hall, when the Duchess of Cornwall and her sister Annabel were warmly welcomed by the village.   The Duchess talked to many of the people involved in the funding, planning, building, and marketing of the building, not to mention those who provided refreshments and a wonderful array of cakes for all to enjoy.
