The White Horse Public House

The White Horse is on the West side of the A350 trunk road. It is a Hall and Woodhouse tenanted public house run by the landlord, Chris Sargent, as his own business. The White Horse provides the normal range of public house games and events currently including pool, darts, a quiz team and, from time to time, musical entertainment. In common with most pubs, food has become an increasingly important part of its business; therefore, as part of a recent major extension and refurbishment, the dining area and patio have been expanded.

The royal couple were at the White Horse pub in Stourpaine near Blandford during a one-day visit to Dorset on 27 May 2011. The Prince had a half-pint of local Firkin Fox ale and joked: "What time is it? Am I allowed to?" As president of Business in the Community, the Prince was supporting its Pub is the Hub programme: the initiative encourages rural pub owners to diversify to provide services and support that would otherwise have been lost from rural communities. The pub's Village Shop which opened five weeks earlier, sells local produce and also houses the Post Office service two mornings a week. It also acts as a Community Centre with a book swap area, pool and darts teams and a Senior Citizens Lunch Club.

Chris Sargent the publican has a long running history as a trained chef & uses his experiences to create all our dishes.
